Porter As A Puppy

Porter was a good little boy. He had a single-mindedness that would be troublesome from time to time, but he generally listened well. He loved playing and wrestling with other dogs.

He was very gentle around young kids, puppies and kittens. Oh sure, he’d get his mouth on you, his tongue would leave a trail of slobber, but he never bit down. My leg was a napkin after he has his fill of water. He could not resist giving it a good lick.

He would often lay on my feet when he was tired and wanted to rest. He always needed that physical contact.

The rag-toy

When Porter was a young puppy he would love to bring you things to throw for him. Once, he decided that a simple shop rag was a good throw-toy for a while. Here we are trying to teach him to respect the boundaries of the thrower, and wait to time the throw for a catch in mid-air. He was mostly too eager to jump in front of the throw and block, or knock down the rag instead.

Interfering with me

Porter would often try to run interference between me and my other dog, Pepper. He wouldn’t leave us alone and eventually he would get a obnoxious about it.
